As a child – what did you want to do when you left school?
As a child, my aspirations upon leaving school were likely similar to those of many peers, with dreams of becoming a policeman or firefighter. Inspired by my father's career as a car electrician, I initially aimed to follow that path; however, life took an unexpected turn, leading me to become an upholsterer instead.
What motivated you to learn your trade?
My journey into upholstery was a complete coincidence – this was as a result of my mother teaching me how to use a sewing machine, and my father’s friend was an upholster who allowed me to create small projects, which I found enjoyable.
Who or what inspired you to start your own business and why
Upon relocating to the UK, I spent considerable time working in various factory roles. It was my wife's encouragement to establish my own upholstery workshop that motivated me, recognising the demand for my skills in a city with few upholsterers.
What are the rewards of being your ‘own Boss’?
The benefits of being my own boss include direct client interaction, the flexibility to manage my own schedule, and a sense of independence. Most importantly, I appreciate the freedom to take a coffee break whenever I choose!
What made you decide to join Safe Local Trades?
I decided to join Safe Local Trades primarily due to the trust that customers place in this brand. Being part of this community offers me the opportunity to connect with others who share a commitment to reliability and quality.
